2008 NASFAA Presentation

This presentation was given at the 2008 NASFAA Conference in Orlando, FL, on July 6, 2008.  The presenters were Nancy Masten, Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, Diana Oglesby, NSLP, and Patrick McTee, University of Colorado-Denver.  The session moderator was Jacki Fairbairn, Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation.

This presentation shows how schools can have a voice in Common Manual policy development. The Common Manual is a compilation of common policies to which all FFELP guarantors subscribe. Guarantors develop these policies with the active participation of the FFELP community, including postsecondary institutions. In this presentation, you will learn the common policy development process; how schools benefit from participating in the process; how to develop and submit a policy proposal; how to review and comment on proposed policies; and about the Common Manual Web site.
